It was a very windy day in Butler Park today. We couldn’t put up our regular awnings to cover the food so we had to get creative. We used the back of out Uhaul truck as the table and served our beef stew with vegetables from there. We had a short lineup when we started and it was steady till about 3 pm when we ran out of food and people to serve. We served about 130 bowls of delicious beef stew. We had our usual peanut butter and jam sandwiches, hard boiled eggs, and treats. One of our regulars has returned to the neighbourhood. She and her husband have been homeless off and on over the years. They have recently moved into a basement suite near the park. We love to hear of success stories. Our numbers have not increased when the weather improves. We think it’s because the Mustard Seed has opened 7 days a week now across from the park. Special thanks to Hosanna Lutheran Church for allowing us to use their space. Also thank you to Shoppers Drug mart for the regular donations. We are completely donor run with no funding from any level of government. Any donations can be made to Hosanna Lutheran church via mail, cash drop off, or etransfer. If you are interested in volunteering please contact me by DM or reply here.
