We did it again ! The Helping the Homeless in the West End Group (HTH) has again succesfully passed the AHS regulation inspection. We strictly follow protocols from AHS in handling food for the public with or without any inspections. We handled them like we are cooking for our own family. Almost all of us are certified food handlers by AHS. We cook substantial hot meals for 300 plus homeless and poor families who cannot afford food until their next paycheques. We lovingly do it & distribute it to them at Butler Park every Sunday from 2-4 pm. For almost 5 years now, we are consistently doing it..Never missed even if it is -40 or + 40 we are out in the open park with only a canopy protecting our heads & the food. We brave the extreme temperature. Like yesterday it was so windy.. Sometimes our canopy are blown up to 10 feet away upside down. We just pick them up & keep serving. Nothing fazes us. In this part of the city, there is no many soup kitchens like in downtown. Only mustard seeds gives them food. And theyre closed on Friday, Saturday & Sunday. The people does not eat for 3 days until we come on Sunday afternoon. This is why we cooked massive amount of food so every hungry person at the park can eat. We are not a funded group by any govt nor Corp. We only rely on donations & our own personal resources so others can eat too. Some people scorned us because they said we are enabling them. My question is, because these people cannot hold any jobs. No one will hire them. Except for the few ones that hit bottom.and wants to seriously change their lives to better. The rest of those who were trapped in disability caused by the evil of drugs & alcohol, ARE WE JUST GONNA STARVE THEM? & leave them to die? I don’t know about you. But I wont. Because under those blankets or tents which is the only roofs over their heads are living breathing human beings just like you & me. Let us lift a finger to help instead of fostering negativity. We can only keep going through your help that is by volunteering or donating. Please donate. 100% of your donations goes towards the food. We are all volunteer based so no one gets a penny. We considered our donations very very sacred. And Hosanna Lutheran Church is very kind to let us cook in their AHS approved kitchen and also manage the donations really well and can give tax receipts.
