Rain or Shine: The Unwavering Spirit of Sunday Volunteers

We had a cooler and a very wet day, but our friends came out to feast, 334 came. We were fortunate being able to change up the menu for this week. We served 334 BBQ beef on a bun, 360 Hard Boiled Eggs, 462 PBJ Sandwiches, Treats and water. Our Newest Volunteer brought out a large container of Bannock. Bit hit they loved it. Cam with the coffee and ice tea always has a busy day. The clothing table is always a busy place but Catherine has the ability to keep it orderly.

Yesterday was a special day for most of us. We have noticed a drop in our regulars but yesterday they came back. It was really nice to see friendships reunited and to be a part of it is wonderful. In 2 weeks we will have been in the park for 3 years every Sunday, we have never missed a day. God has Blessed us. 30,000 meals and counting, no plans of quitting just plans of how to do this better. The friendships, the comradery, the Love for each other is Truly Amazing. This is a Wonderful community.

Many have asked myself and our Volunteers why do we do this? My answer is if we did not where would they go for food, who will feed them. In the West End Saturday to Tuesday noon there is no place to go for a meal, We are it and we just provide one meal plus two sandwiches for tomorrow. Most people are able to enjoy three meals a day, most of these people are lucky if they get three meals a week.

Truck load of clothing every week, tarps and blankets to sleep under. Coats, boots and gloves in the winter. Everything is supplied by donors. Yes Donors are our Greatest asset. With out your Help we could not do this.

I am amazed when it comes to those who Volunteer. -30 to +30, rain or shine or snow, they give up there Sundays for 2 hours because they have a heart for all the people.

We are in need of tarps, blankets and hygiene products. Also we need to get a couple more walkers. As for the group we need peanut butter and jam along with potatoes, carrots and onions. Granola bars and cookies are always a joy for them. All donations are appreciated. If anyone would like to participate with us we will welcome you. Thank you to everyone one who Helps to Prepare the meals. Thank you to everyone who helps to make 400+ PBJ sandwiches. Thank you goes to every Volunteer who Helps to make this Happen every Sunday. Thank You to everyone who is able to donate. Thank You for Reading this.
