I was talking to this one homeless person.. he is not drunk nor high.. we have very decent conversations how he said they’re being treated by big funded agencies. He said some just do their jobs but just has no compassion. He didn’t know we were from HTH and he said, “But this one agency that comes here every Sunday afternoon, I heard they don’t get any fundings from the govt. They’re the only ones I that see respect & compassion for us. They work real hard for us. So we can eat. I appreciate them so much. I always watch for them when they come. They smile, talk to us, some are pastors who are not snobs to talk to us. They’re always here. Never missed,” he said.. My tears were just rolling down my cheeks.. I didn’t show any facial emotions. But just leaky eyes.. to hear real talks like that is very emotional for me. His head down the whole time & when he looked at me coz I was so quite just listening to him, he bowed his head again & cried.. I said nothing else but, “see you tomorrow same time always 2 pm..” he looked at me & said, “you’ll be here tomorrow?” I said , “always, rain or shine.” He has this look in his face that he started to say, “so you guys are in that group?” He meant my son & me. we went back to our car, looked for more hungry people. & pondered all afternoon.. SO THIS IS WHY HTH EXIST. This is the real meaning of when Jesus said, “do you love me Peter? And Peter said., yes Lord I love you.” And Jesus said, “FEED MY LAMB.” This is why we volunteer at HTH so our hungry friends can also eat. We lift our fingers, our tired & achy feet to cook & serve the forgotten, the unlovable who are despised by the society. They have a place in our hearts.. like these 3 sisters today who also cooked & served them food. PLEASE VOLUNTEER WITH HTH. PLEASE RESPOND TO THE CALL OF YOUR HEARTS. BECAUSE PRAYING ONLY WITH OUT THE WORKS OF MERCY IS LACKING. WE NEED MANY HANDS & FEET TO CONTINUE THIS ACT OF KINDNESS. Thank you for reading this story of experience as a volunteer of HTH.
