January 14th

Helping the Homeless. It was a beautiful day in Butler Park yesterday. Much warmer than last week. The day seemed to start off slowly but the line didn’t end and by 3 pm we had served 4 roasters of Heath soup (175 servings) and we were out of food. We gave people sandwiches, treats, hard boiled eggs and soup with a bun. Pastor Can was there with coffee and hot chocolate to warm people up as they waited for food. There were blankets, clothes. And special thanks for the donation of mitts, gloves, sicks and toques for people in need. We also had a donation of toothbrushes and toothpaste. We run totally by donations with no city or government money. Donations can be sent to Hosanna Lutheran church with the note hth and you can get a receipt. As always we are in need of help. In particular people willing to heat the food in our kitchen on Sunday morning and clean the pans on Sunday after we serve in the park. And also a driver for the u-hual truck Sundays. Pick up at 11, help load the tables and food, set up at the park, then load everything back into the truck and return everything to the sea can. Usually finished by 430 pm. Drivers are not required to serve in the park.
