Hello to everybody. Butler Park was a Busy Place. When we arrived there was hardly anyone there. By the time we were set up the lineup was across the park. The menu was Pasta lots of Pasta with a ton of cheese. Must say everyone enjoyed it with many compliments. We served 253 servings, 338 Hard boiled eggs, extra bread and buns along with cinnamon buns and a ton of treats plus water. Then came the Desserts, Zoe brought the watermelon and Victoria & James supplied the Bananas, Jay and Lorna brought the donuts and Tom supplied the muffins. A feast for everyone to enjoy. Special Thank You to all our Ladies who put this together.
It was a busy week but a good week, last week we mentioned Andy’s IGA was closing there doors, Tuesday was the last day. Wednesday Jeff asked us to come in and get what was left of the bread on the shelves. We had a good chat, the building is now in the hands of L’OCA, https://www.loca.ca/ in 4-6 months the store will reopen with most of the former staff who we have come to know, most changes will be cosmetic with some changes of the food, the Kosher department will remain. There focus will be providing quality food and customer service.
We were concerned about the bread donations then The Canadian Angel Network has come to the rescue, they will now be providing all the bread and treats we require to feed the people. Yes we are Blessed by God again.
It is hard for some of us to understand what can happen to all of us. There are so many stories of hardship. I was chatting with a lady who is on AISH, after rent increases an high utilities the meal we give is the only hot meal she has for the week. There are hundreds with the same story in Edmonton alone. Many seniors come for food, young families living in cars. The need is great.
