“Helping the Homeless” gave away 293 cups of hot meals, sandwiches, treats, water, coffee, juice, toiletries, etc. at Butler park in the west end. It was used to be a haven of crimes, drugs & alcohol. Now it is a place of hope, tolerance, acceptance, gentleness, compassion, giving & loving. Even the hard-core substance abusers, hardened hearts, hurt people, they get mellowed out, beaten by poverty, anger & hopelessness, they became soft & gentle that they can see how these HTH volunteers are so kind towards them. The transformation of Butler Park is very encouraging.
This one young lady used to be such a hard-core substance abuser. When she comes, she used to be so angry, loud & ultra-sensitive. But the HTH volunteers constantly showed her love & give her extra stuff if she wants, just truly supporting her & praying for her. Now she comes every Sunday, telling us her changed lifestyle story. She is sober now & will go back to school soon. She constantly say thank you, teary eyed, hugging the volunteers & she’s so grateful. They told her “it’s not us. It was Jesus who helped her.”
These HTH (Helping the Homeless) volunteers, through their humble cups of hot meals, sandwiches, water & prayers, touched many lives. If they can help one life at a time, it’s enough reason to continue the very difficult task without any fundings from the govt or org. They put their time and money together so others can eat. Please donate to them. Your money 100% goes directly towards the food, to the people who are so hungry. You will also get a usable tax receipt.
Please direct your cash or cheques donation to Hosanna Lutheran Church (9009 – 163rd Street) marked HTH OR HELPING THE HOMELESS. If you have any extras from your gardens, please bring them to Butler Park every Sunday 2-4 pm they’re there. IF YOUR HEART IS TOUCHED & WANTS TO HELP THEM, VOLUNTEERS.ARE ALWAYS WELCOME!
