It was chilly in Butler Park today. The wind was cold and a few gusts caused our awnings to lift up. So people had to frantically grab the poles to keep them in place a couple of times. Today we served a great Thanksgiving meal. There was lots of ham, roasted potatoes, veggies, lots of stuffing and gravy for the stuffing. There was also pumpkin pie with whipped cream and pumpkin cheesecake for desert. As usual we handed out peanut butter and jam sandwiches, hard boiled eggs, water or root beer, lots of goodies and treats. My Wright was there with his delicious donuts. Pastor Can had coffee, hot chocolate and iced tea, blessings and bibles if requested. Thank you to all the amazing volunteers who helped us with this Thanksgiving meal. Thank you for our potato peelers who spent 2 hours peeling potatoes, the sandwich makers who also helped with dividing up the goodies and candies, Rick who sliced all the ham Friday morning, the people who spent 2 hours taking the bones our of the ham, and everyone else who helped prepping the food. Thank you for the volunteers in the park in the cold wind. Setting up, serving food, handing out treats, serving up the deserts, handing out drinks and helping all our friends. Thanks you to Shoppers Drug Mart for the wonderful treats this weekend. Thank you to Pastor James and Hosanna Lutheran Church for the use of the kitchen on Friday mornings and Sundays. We are always looking for volunteers. Food prep, warming food, food bank runs, serving in the park, even washing the pots after the park. Everything we do is by donation. If you are called to donate to us you can drop money at the office or etransfer Hosanna Lutheran Church. Please put HTH in the notes so money reaches us.
